8th International Art Competition, Purchase Award Winning Piece, “Flight,” March 20, 2009

This piece, entitled Flight, 54″ x 54,” oil on canvas, is a based on the familiar and classically depicted story of Joseph, Mary & the boy Savior’s flight into Egypt from the New Testament. This piece won a Purchase Award in the 8th International Art Competition which is held every 3 years in Salt Lake City by the Museum of Church History & Art. Announcements were made during the Award Ceremony on March 20, 2009, just prior to the evening’s Exhibition Opening. Flight, having received the Purchase Award, is now a permanent part of the Museum’s collection. This piece was amongst 1089 entires from 44 countries, of which nearly 200 were selected for final exhibition. The exhibition will hang in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City from March 20 through October 11, 2009.

I'm enjoying all your works, Rose. Absolutely wonderful. The 6th study of Joseph Smith is one of my favorite depictions of him. Such talent.
